The School began offering executive education over ten years ago, and is the only business school in Germany to be ranked for executive education by the financial times. Executive programs emphasize a small, high-quality teaching environment that drives learning results in short periods of time.
ESMT is also home to an Executive MBA program which boasts the #1 ranking for career progress in the world. The program operates in modular formats, and, through a unique approach to projects and coursework, allows students to tailor their experience to return investment to students and their companies right away.
Executive MBA

The 18-month, part-time Executive MBA consists of three main phases during which participants first acquire a solid foundation in general management issues, then build their distinctive edge in one of two focus-areas (technology management & innovation or international management) and develop strategic leadership capabilities. The third phase is integrative in nature, requiring that participants bring together the various dimensions of managing a business and leading people and organizations. This phase includes an international field seminar and a master's thesis based on a practice project completed in their company. Students complete coursework at the Berlin campus, with two modules outside of Germany. In 2013, the international modules were in Russia and Brazil.
Executive Education
“Is the glass half empty or half full?
In good times and bad, there are always a select group of business leaders who are able to see beyond the heat of the moment. They recognize that periods of economic uncertainty are also powerful windows of opportunity. These are the individuals who seize the chance to realign their business - and reposition their competition - for the next wave of growth and innovation.” Olaf Plötner, Professor of Practice and Dean of Executive Education, ESMT, and Managing Director, ESMT CS
ESMT Open Enrollment Programs cover a wide range of topics. They offer high-impact learning in a short time frame. Latest thinking, practice-oriented concepts and tools, experiential methods that foster self-discovery are all part of the classroom experience. Participants are able to translate what they have learned into action as soon as they return to their companies.

ESMT Customized Solutions (CS) stands for designing and delivering customized programs that foster the development of a particular organization. For this purpose we have pooled experts combining academic knowledge with capabilities to teach and consult. In addition, we pursue an industry-focused rather than a functional approach, using forefront research with discipline-based knowledge and real-world implementation.
Five practice groups - one core philosophy
Customize, not standardize. Our core philosophy is the guiding force behind our industry-specific Platform for Impact. Divided into five main practice groups, ESMT CS deploys specialty knowledge to achieve highly specific, deep organizational transformation. The start was made in 2003 with two practice groups, namely Technology-Based Industries and Telecommunication, Transport, Utilities. Later on Financial Services, Consumer Goods and Retail and Professional Service Firms were added.
ESMT's campus is in the center of Berlin, Germany, just across the street from Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The school's main building is the former East German "Staatsratsgebäude." Berlin is a hub of culture and design, with over 160,000 students, hundreds of art galleries and museums, and one of Europe's trendiest nightlife.
ESMT's central urban location provides direct public transit to all parts of the city. Numerous airlines operate direct flights from Berlin's airports. The city is cosmopolitan and international, with every national culinary taste represented in the city's thousands of restaurants.
